Sometimes you come across interesting patterns while walking along the street.  This one almost looks like it was designed from the start to be painted on a canvas rather than on concrete.

Hope Springs Eternal

Hope Springs Eternal

Chicago Major League Baseball fans always look forward to springtime, when their teams are tied for first place (at least until opening day).  At least White Sox fans can remember playing in and winning the World Series.  When I was in grade school in 1959, we were all herded into the gym and sat around a huge (must have been 19″) TV to watch the Sox play in the Series.  This image was made after the Sox won in 2005.  The horse’s hoof is on one of the statues of Native Americans on horseback which flank Congress Parkway near Michigan Avenue.

Get the Shot

Get the Shot

Some people are more willing to go to great lengths (or depths) to make the perfect image.  Personally, it would take a lot to get me to crawl around a city sidewalk to make one, but then, I assume this guy’s getting paid for his work and for the right price I’d be right down there too.

Room With a View

Room With a View

I had to kill some time before a rehearsal one evening, so I went to a little establishment across the street to quaff a beverage and do some reading until show time.   I could see the rehearsal venue through the window and made this image of the surroundings.

Get a Handle

Get a Handle

I like naturally occurring monochromatic images.  The late afternoon sun gives everything here that reddish color of sunset.

Sentinel

Sentinel

The title only makes sense to me and just barely.  I own a few paintings and one of them is titled ‘Sentinel 1961.’  This image reminds me of the painting and so the title is as good as any.

Light Through the Cracks

Light Through the Cracks

Usually, walking along with my head down so the wind doesn’t hit my face prevents me from seeing a lot of potential images, but in this case I was able to see the light and shadows, plus I didn’t slip on the ice.

Rooftop

Rooftops

I like the interaction of the tile roof and the rooftop garden/patio space along with the different textures of the bricks and such on the walls.

Nine Windows

Nine Windows

Windows of a shop in Chicago – I didn’t have time to go in and see what it’s all about, but then, I’m not sure just how interested I am in paper chains hanging from tree branches.

Big Corner

Big Corner

Some day I’ll have to figure out the psychology behind why I like to make images of corners, but psychologists cost to much to find out a reason why I shouldn’t be making them and they amuse me too much.
