Yep, It’s Buildings Again

Buildings Again

So I finish the calendar year with yet another image of building parts crammed together.

Determination

Determined

I was attracted to this scene because of the design of the lines in the metal work, but when processing the image, I couldn’t help but be impressed by the plant trying to grow and thrive under extreme conditions.

Dormant

Dormant

Made this image this morning – we’ve had something like eighteen days so far this December with high temperatures in the forties.  All the vegetation here just waiting for spring to green up again.

On Review

On Review

Earlier this year I posted an image from the NWTA 35th year Grand Encampment and told my story of being a founder.  This image is from the 30th Encampment and shows British troops passing by in review, with a Colonial unit coming up just behind.

Elixir of Love

Elixir of Love

This image is from the 2008 opera production by Sugar Creek Symphony and Song.  The setting of Donizetti’s opera was moved to the American Wild West from its original European home.  One reason I chose this image of the ‘cast photo’ was that it was the only time in the entire period that I have been photographing the operas that ‘flash’ photography was allowed.

Buildings Again

Buildings Again

I’ve posted similar images before, but I really like to explore compressing different planes so that they appear to be in the same plane; reminiscent of Soviet Supremacist painters and illustrators of the early twentieth century.  This is just another example.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

A quick photo I made this morning at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Peotone after morning Mass.   The altar and flowers look better at night, but then the window is completely black.

I’m Dreaming…

I'm Dreaming...

Last year we had a White Christmas – this image with additional hoarfrost was made a few days later – but this year will be sunny and slightly warmer than average.  I don’t mind avoiding shoveling the heavy white stuff, but a quarter or half inch of ground cover would help the Holiday spirit.

Even More Angles

Even More Angles

All the lines lead your eye directly to one spot.  Too bad there’s nothing there to lokk at.

Building Angles

Angles, shapes, texture, shadows and near monochromatic – I like ‘em all.
