Lilies

Lilies

One of our neighbors does a great job of growing day lilies and other flowers.  I made some images a few summers ago and it’s nice to work on them during the dreary days of winter.

Knobs

Knobs

During the summer, I play in the Kankakee Municipal Band.  We give concerts in the park, just like days gone by, and we usually have a pretty good and appreciative crowd.  In addition to playing, I run the sound system and I have a constant view of the equipment just below my music stand.  This is an image of some knobs on one of our mixer boards (the volume knobs are turned all the way down because the board has room for eight inputs and we only use the first four).

Bullseye

Busseye

I guess it’s a fish and not really a bull.  I’m not even sure if it’s male.  Another image from my wanderings around the Shedd Aquarium.

Under the Sea, part deux

Under the Sea, part deux

Some more creatures from the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago.  Again, I don’t know their names, but I like the design.

Under the Sea

Under the Sea

Or more specifically, behind the glass at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago.  I didn’t take detailed notes as I was wandering around, so I don’t really know what the name of it is, but it’s one of those great designs you see in nature.

Victory Barbershop

Victory Barbershop

Well, the time for my semi-annual haircut passed by a few months ago, so I figured I better go get sheared before I turned it into an annual affair.  I go to the Victory Barbershop in beautiful downtown Peotone, a few doors away from where I used to have my portrait studio. The proprietress, Chrissy Gedmin, has it decorated in an old-fashioned theme with interesting photos and newspapers on the walls.  I usually don’t sit around and wait, so I’m not sure if there are any copies of the Police Gazette lying around.  Anyway, I decided to process for an old-time look with a little bit of HDR and some toning.

Not Just Greener… Comfier Too.

Not Just Greener

Seems like such a waste of time – breaking through the fence to get to freedom and the greener grass and then just laying down.  But then, time is about all he has.

Sunset Rays

Sunset Rays

When the Krannert Center first opened down at the University of Illinois in Urbana, the first director was a gentleman from Scotland.  Someone asked him about the difference between living in Scotland and central Illinois.  He replied that while he missed the Highlands and mountains, he was really impressed by some of the spectacular sunsets in cornland.  This is an image I made just outside of my house one evening.  I’m not sure what exactly it was that cause the rays, but they are impressive.

Booth

Booth

I was having lunch at a pizza place and had the camera sitting on the table, so I pressed the shutter release and got this image.  I do like all the old advertising.
